Studio Policies
Lesson Attendance & Cancellation Policy
Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons punctually and consistently.
If a student is unable to attend a lesson, notice must be provided at least 48 hours in advance.
Lessons canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be forfeited and no make-up lesson, credit, or
refund will be provided, regardless of the reason for the absence.
Make-up lessons may be offered only for cancellations received at least 48 hours before the
scheduled lesson time and are subject to studio availability.
Illness Policy
If a student is feeling unwell, has a fever, or has symptoms of a contagious illness, they should
remain home. If at least 48 hours’ notice is provided, a make-up lesson may be arranged based on
studio availability. Cancellations due to illness with less than 48 hours’ notice are subject to the
standard cancellation policy.
Weather Policy
Lessons will generally proceed as scheduled. In cases of severe weather or unsafe travel
conditions, the teacher may choose to move the lesson online, reschedule it, or provide a make-up
lesson at the teacher’s discretion.
Holidays & Studio Closures
The studio will observe major holidays and scheduled breaks throughout the year. Families will be
notified in advance of any studio closures. Tuition reserves the student’s lesson time and is not
adjusted for scheduled studio holidays.
Recitals, Competitions & Performances
Students are encouraged to participate in recitals, chamber music programs, festivals, and
competitions when appropriate. Participation is an important part of musical development and
performance experience.
Students who commit to a performance are expected to attend rehearsals and arrive prepared. Any
fees associated with recitals, competitions, accompanists, or special events will be communicated
in advance.
Teacher Absences
If the teacher must cancel a lesson for any reason, a make-up lesson, substitute lesson, or credit
will be provided.
Tuition
Tuition reserves a student’s weekly lesson time and is due as agreed upon. Missed lessons do not
reduce tuition obligations except as outlined in these policies.
Enrollment in lessons at The Art of Piano Playing & Performing Arts constitutes acceptance of all studio policies.
